The Sustainability and Social Responsibility Report is
a document illustrating the approach followed, the
commitments made and the results obtained by
Florim from the economic, social and environmental
viewpoints; this report also sets out goals for the
near future.

We decided to make public the data
and information in the report in order to
illustrate full transparency of both the
company’s impact on the environment
and the value created, supporting a
culture of corporate sustainability and
establishing a new form of dialogue.

Our company was one of the first porcelain
manufacturing companies to introduce a Sustainability
Report, an instrument now adopted by a growing
number of companies in the world.

preserving natural resources, ensuring the safety
of its employees, and in supporting the welfare of

As an active member of the U.S. Green Building
Council (USGBC), we spread awareness
throughout the entire American community and
encourage towards the use of building solutions
inspired by environmentally friendly practices.

The USGBC defined the LEED Green Building
Rating System that assigned points necessary for
earning the LEED certification (Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design).


The adoption of the eco-compatible
production system is another merit of
Italian designs produced in the U.S.

Only buildings can be “LEED certified”, not
products. In particular, numerous of our Florim
USA products contain a significant percentage in
proportion to their weight of recycled,
pre-consumer material.

Several series by Florim USA contain a significant percentage in proportion to their weight of recycled, pre-consumer material (from 20 to more than 40%).

This feature helps to raise the LEED score in the
projects where these tiles are used.

To demonstrate its commitment, we have
engaged Clarksville Montgomery County
Green Certification (CMCGC) Program which is
designed to help businesses learn and implement
best practices in the area of environmental
stewardship in an effort to sustain the local
community’s resources through a series of free
workshops taught by environmental and other
subject area specialists.

The idea for the CMCGC Program
originated from a Leadership
Clarksville study group is based on
successful environmental initiatives
that have originated globally.



  • Reprocess recycled materials and
    scrap glass into the products
  • Avoid putting waste into the landfills
  • Repurpose of as many scrap pallets
    as possible
  • Recycle scrap fired tile back into the
    production process


We are committed to the development of
ecologically sound building products and the
sustainability of the environment. We recycle
powders, pastes, and residues from the plant’s
industrial processes.

We also purchase glass bottles from a local
landfill and recycle the unused tile back into the
manufacturing process. These efforts allow the
Company to offer products that can help you earn
LEED points without compromising the efficiency
of the plant and products.

We are privileged to collaborate with several organizations that share this mission.




Austin Peay State University

In 2008, we embarked on a very warm
relationship with Clarksville’s Austin Peay State
University (APSU) . Three Florim USA
Scholarships have been established in memory of
Engineer Giovanni Lucchese, founder of the
Florim Group and father of the president and
owner. Meritorious students are awarded during
an annual ceremony by our management and
APSU’s president.



In 2010, we began to offer internships to Austin
Peay students. This 12-week program provides
students with practical and theoretical knowledge
of our ceramic processes. Upon completion of the
program, the students receive corresponding
college credits, which assist them further in their

Annual Community CARES (Community
Advocating for Every Special Citizen)
Walk and Expo:

We take part in the initiatives organized by the
Clarksville Association for Down Syndrome. A
team of people from our Company walk with over
500 walkers to provide awareness to special
citizens and the community about health,
wellness, safety and education.

Clarksville Association for Down Syndrome:

We donate to help the Association in supporting
local families and in spreading its mission.

Book donations:

Thanks to our partnership with Austin Peay State
University, our employees are engaged in
collecting new or lightly used books for
children and young people.

Aspire Clarksville Foundation:

Since 2010 we have signed a pladge to give an
annual donation to the Foundation, a privately
funded organization that strives to continually
improve the economy and the livability of the local
community by attracting significant capital
investment and expansion from corporations,
thereby creating better opportunities and higher
paying jobs for local residents.




We also strongly believe in helping also the
national community through a wide variety of
philanthropic donations.

Every year at Thanksgiving our employees collect
food for the Salvation Army an international
movement operating over 7,546 centers in
communities across the US.
These include food distribution, disaster relief,
rehabilitation centers, anti-human trafficking
efforts and a wealth of children’s programs.



We have been a “Tile Partner for Humanities
in 2010 donating 6 truckloads of installation
materials to Operation Compassion for use in the
re-building efforts after the earthquake in Haiti.

In 2011 Florim USA did another tile donation to
Habitat for Humanity to build and restore
houses for disadvantaged families.
